Simulation-based education in healthcare has seen a growth in the number of debriefing methods and frameworks that are vital for a safe and meaningful learning experience for healthcare professionals. This course will initially look at pre-briefing and the safe psychological environment in healthcare scenario-based education. It will then teach the diffident methods of effective debriefing with an emphasis in Plus-delta and the PEARLS (Promoting Excellence and Reflective Learning in Simulation) approach. During the course there will be examples of careful advocacy enquiry when sensitively giving feedback to students/participants. Difficulties that can be challenging in debriefing sessions will also be addressed.
