Critical decisions in Paediatric Emergency Medicine

About this event

This advanced simulation two-day course in paediatric emergencies will be of great interest for senior registrars, SpRs, and consultants in paediatrics, emergency medicine and critical care. On the first day there will be interesting discussions on topics such as transfer of the critically unwell child, behavioural disturbance and sedation in children, and non-accidental injury by experts. This day will also include a procedural skills workshop on difficult vascular access and airway management in children. The second day will be guided by an expert and skilled faculty and will focus on the management of critically unwell paediatric patients through multiple immersive high-fidelity scenarios based on real life cases. Participants will refine enhanced clinical decision-making in complex, time-critical situations. The course also places strong emphasis on human factors including leadership, communication, and team dynamics. Going beyond the scope of standard provider courses, it aims to build confidence in managing paediatric emergencies with a high degree of expertise.
