Simulation Suites at the ASSERT Centre

The ASSERT Centre features three state-of-the-art, high-fidelity simulation suites designed to support a wide range of clinical training scenarios from undergraduate, postgraduate and working healthcare professionals across all domains of healthcare. Each suite is equipped with independent control and debriefing rooms, offering maximum flexibility for teaching and research.
Advanced audio-visual systems are integrated throughout to capture and replay every teaching moment, facilitating both formative debriefing and research analysis. Floor-to-ceiling observation windows in the debrief rooms allow facilitators and observers to be immersed in the scenario while remaining unobtrusive.

Key Features:
  • Realistic simulation of diverse clinical environments, including hospital wards, trauma bays, ICU/HDU, and operating theatres.
  • Suitable for training healthcare professionals at all levels, from novice learners to experienced clinicians, with a strong emphasis on interprofessional team training.
  • Provides a risk-free environment for practising clinical decision-making and medical emergencies, enhancing patient and provider safety.
  • One suite is equipped with the CAE Human Patient Simulator—one of the most advanced manikin-based systems available—capable of being ventilated using actual ICU or anaesthetic equipment and interfacing with real clinical monitors for highly realistic ICU and anaesthesia simulations.
  • A fleet of mobile simulators is also available from neonatal, paediatric to adult manikins, including Laerdal SimMan 3G, CAE HPS and iStan, Gaumard Premie, Neonatal, Paediatric and Obstetric Simulators.
  • In-situ simulation capabilities supported by transportable manikins and mobile audio-visual systems, allowing training to occur within actual clinical environments.
  • A dedicated five-bed clinical ward area with full AV support, suitable for manikin-based scenarios, simulated patients, procedural skills training, and small group teaching.
