About Project ACoRN
The overall aim of the Advancing Children’s Rights Research Network Palestine (ACoRN) is to promote research on children’s rights in Palestine. Since the inception of the project in 2023 the research needs have changed in focus and urgency. There is however a strong and continued desire to build capacity and networks, creating a research environment that will contribute to supporting children’s rights in Palestine, not just in the current context but one that can be sustained into the future.
The guiding principle of the project is to apply an epistemically just approach towards children's rights research in Palestine, informed by the three core values of humility, diligence and open-mindedness. ACoRN is engaging with partners and building relationships and partnerships on the basis of honesty, trust, and cooperation.
To address some foundational elements of children’s rights research, ACoRN is commissioning scoping papers on several themes that will provide a culturally sensitive contextual, conceptual, and methodological base for children's rights research in Palestine. This work, together with the work of the three research networks being established in Palestine on the themes of health, education and justice, seek to build a solid foundation for children’s rights policy and practice, in an anticipated future period of recovery and rebuilding. Objectively, an important and rare opportunity has emerged to implement research that seeks to establish the building blocks for children’s rights, the learning for which can be applied internationally.
