MBS (Electronic Business)

NFQ Level 9, Major Award

The MBS in Electronic Business is a full-time programme running for 12 months from the date of first registration for the programme.

Entry Requirements
To be eligible for the MBS Degree in Electronic Business candidates must hold at least a Second Class Honours Grade II primary degree or equivalent, except graduates holding degrees in Business Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent. Candidates who do not meet or achieve the Second Class Honours Grade II standard may be admitted to the programme on the basis of extensive practical or professional experience as deemed appropriate by the Professor of Business Information Systems and the Faculty of Commerce.

Programme Requirements
Students take taught modules to the value of 70 credits in Part I and an Electronic Business Development Project to the value of 20 credits in Part II.

Students take 90 credits as follows:

Part I
IS6110 Electronic Business Models and Systems (10 credits)
IS6111 Data Modelling and Database Systems (10 credits)
IS6112 Application Modelling and Design (10 credits)
IS6113 Storage Technology (5 credits)
IS6114 e-Business Experience and Practice (10 credits)
IS6116 Programming for Web Applications and Services (10 credits)
IS6123 Introduction to Mobile Programming (10 credits)
EE6163 Telecommunications for Electronic Business (5 credits)

Part II
IS6117 Electronic Business Development Project (20 credits)

Examinations
Full details and regulations governing Examinations for each programme will be contained in the Marks and Standards 2013 Book and for each module in the Book of Modules 2012/2013.

Postgraduate Diploma in Electronic Business (NFQ Level 9, Major award)
Students who pass Part I may opt to exit the programme and be conferred with a Postgraduate Diploma in Electronic Business.
