Two URG papers presented at IET ISSC 2009
Two papers by the Ultrasonics Research Group, UCC were presented at the IET Irish Signals and Systems Conference (ISSC 2009) in Dublin, Ireland.
Two papers, entitled "Estimation of Tissue Elasticity by Image Processing of Simulated B-mode Ultrasound Images" and "Compensation Network Design for Capacitive Ultrasonic Transducers" by the Ultrasonics Research Group in UCC were presented at the IET Irish Signals and Systems Conference (ISSC 2009) in Dublin, Ireland held over 10th - 11th June 2009.
The first paper, by Aidan Constant and Bill Wright, describes how tissue stiffness, which is linked to tumour malignancy, may be estimated to within 8% using image processing of successive B-mode ultasonc images using segmentation and edge detection. The second paper, by Sean McSweeney and Bill Wright, describes how compensation networks based on various cascaded equalisation filter architectures were used to condition the output of a capacitive ultrasonic transducer (CUT).
Both works were supported by Government of Ireland IRCSET Postgraduate Scholarships under the EMBARK Initiative.
