Note: ‘A message received from Charleville last night [8 November 1922] says that as a result of an attack on National troops at Charleville recently, three prominent Irregulars, including a well-known leader named O’Leary, were killed.’ See CE, 11 Nov. 1922. In addition, the Army Bulletin reported that on 11 November 1922 three Irregulars had been killed in an encounter at or near Charleville without mentioning the death of O’Leary. The National soldiers involved were said to have captured rifles, bombs, and ammunition. See Army Bulletin, vol. 1, no. 21, Daily Report of 14 Nov. 1922, MA-HS-A-901 (Military Archives). It should be noted that the approximate dates of the incident or incidents are not the same in the newspaper source as in the Army Bulletin.
