Welcome to UCC Special Collections
Special Collections is:
"Unique and distinctive collections of rare books, and many other media" (Unique and Distinctive Collections, RLUK http://rlukuniqueanddistinctive.wordpress.com/about/) and
"elements of distinction that serve to differentiate and academic or research library from its peers" (Dooley, Jackie & Luce, Katherine Taking Our Pulse: The OCLC Research Survey of Special Collections and Archives. Dublin, Ohio: OCLC Research, 2010. http://www.oclc.org/research/publications/library/2010/2010-11.pdf)
The Library holds important collections of rare and older printed books, manuscript material, ephemera, photographs and works of art.
The dual role of Special Collections is the care and conservation of these unique and distinctive materials and facilitating research.
We also have a strong commitment to develop Learning and Teaching within Special Collections. We offer various classes linked to academic modules. Please check Training and Support and Subjects for more information.
