Recognised School Leaving Qualification(s)

  • Brandos Atestatas / Maturity Certificate, at State exam level (from a Gymnasium or Secondary School) is acceptable for programmes up to 500 points. To attain over 500 points, additional points will be awarded for successful completion of a first year university examination taken in Lithuania provided it is taken in a recognised 3rd level institution at a level equivalent to that of the programme applied for. Please note that in some cases, specific subjects may be needed to meet entry requirements.

NB:  state system only in place from 2000 onwards.


Eligibility Requirements

Subject pass mark for University purposes:

5 (on a scale of 0-10 where 10 is best) or 30% at state level (examined).


Minimum Entry Requirements/Matriculation:

The minimum eligibility criteria follow. Proof of English proficiency is required in all cases. There may also be specific subject requirements for courses.

Level 8      2 H5 required               

Minimum grade 5 in 6 distinct recognised subjects, with minimum grade 8 in 2 subjects. Subjects presented must include a minimum of 2 examined at State level.

NB:  Applicants must present a school report showing grades attained in each subject

English Language Competence:

The minimum acceptable level of English is 8 in examined English or equivalent English Language competence. Note applicants whose school-leaving examinations are more than two years old should present additional proof of English.

Guideline Indicative equivalence with Irish Leaving Certificate points`:

As a guideline it is anticipated that the indicative equivalence will be calculated by summing the Indicative Points Score for the best 6 subjects (normally recognised by HEIs for admissions purposes) which must include at least 2 at state level.  Only school subjects taken at 140 hours or more will be counted.

The maximum attainable in this examination is 500 points. To attain more than 500 points, applicants must also present satisfactory results in 1st year in a recognised 3rd level institution at a level equivalent to that of the programme applied for.

Single Sitting: Only school and examination subjects taken in the same examination sitting will be counted for the purposes of points calculation.
