Postgraduate Deferrals

The deferral application system for the 2020/2021 academic year is now closed - If you have already registered online, and do not wish to proceed to study your course this year, then please email  If you wish to return to study your course in a future year then you must re-apply at a later date.


Applying for a One-Year Deferral


To apply for a deferral, applicants must accept their offer through the Postgraduate Applications Centre (PAC) and must have met all offer conditions. 

If there is a programme deposit required on acceptance of a place on the course, this must be paid to continue with the deferral application process. Applicants who do not wish to pay the deferral deposit may choose to reapply through PAC and compete for a place in the normal way the following year. 


Applicants wishing to defer their place on a course must complete the online Deferral Application Form and pay a non-refundable administrative fee of €25.00 This fee will be paid online. 

3.  Applications for deferrals for medical reasons must be accompanied by medical certification.
4. Deferral requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis in consultation with the Programme Coordinator. 
5. Deferral requests will only be considered prior to online registration on a course.

If a deferral is granted, a confirmation email will be sent to the applicant’s email address provided on PAC.  

A non-refundable deposit of €100 will be required to confirm the deferred place.  

If a programme deposit has already been paid as part of a course acceptance the €100 deposit will not be required. 

7. The €100 deposit must be paid by Bank Transfer, and instructions for this will be provided.
8. On receipt of the deferral deposit, the place will then be held and re-offered through PAC the following year. On acceptance, the deposit will be deducted from the postgraduate fees due.
