A School engaged with its communities and the state

President Michael D. Higgins, Professor Colin Sumner and Dr. Kieran Keohane at Isaac's Restaurant, Cork on 15th November 2013

With the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins (left) and Dr Kieran Keohan (right), at Issac's in Cork, 2015. The President had been interested in Kieran's work on memory and he called a lunch to discuss the criminological aspects of the centenary commemorations.

The President has since met with Philosophy Department members to applaud their contribution to the launching of Philosophy teaching in Irish schools from 2018.

Our School has many significant instances of community and national-political engagement. We are a scholarly School but one engaged with the wider society on many important issues of the day.
