A transition is a time of change; a time of movement where you can grow and develop. Transitions in the context of third level education are not exclusive to first-year students. In each year of your degree, you adapt and change, to meet the new challenges that have been set for you.
The first few weeks of the semester can be a time for exploration. It is a chance for you to gain skills that will allow you to engage with the demands of your academic programme and also enjoy the many things university life has to offer. This is central to your success, whether you are a new student to UCC or a returning student.
The Skills Centre has focused on some key areas for the first few weeks to make sure that you get off to the best possible start for the 2017/18 academic year, so make sure you grab a seat for these sessions.
We have grouped our skills sessions to reflect the demands of your academic calendar. The first four weeks will have a high concentration of transitional skills such as Note Taking, Time Management, Study Skills and Microsoft Word. If you have suggestions for any additional sessions, we would be delighted to hear from you. Email firstname.lastname@example.org or drop by the basement of the Boole Library, we are located just around the corner from the Special Collections.
