Office365 Tips and Tricks
- Record, narrate and export as video
Give your presentations a professional feel with Microsoft's record, narrate and export as video option.
- Save as .pdf
When you save presentation as a PDF file it freezes the formatting and layout. Classmates and lecturers can view the slides even if they don’t have PowerPoint, but they can’t make changes to it.
- Design ideas
PowerPoint Designer automatically generates design ideas for you to choose from. Take your presentation to the next level and add a professional touch using Microsoft's design ideas.
- Presenter View
PowerPoint Presenter view shows you the current slide, the next slide, and your speaker notes, to help you while presenting. Check out Microsoft's instructions on how to use Presenter View.
- Line breaks
Start a new line of text within a cell in excel using these instructions.
- Freeze panes
Freeze panes to lock rows and columns. To keep an area of a worksheet visible while you scroll to another area of the worksheet, see Excel's freeze panes option.
- Conditional formatting
Add visual cues to make your data easier to understand using Excel's conditional formatting.
- Paste Special
When you use Copy and then Paste in Excel, by default it will paste everything (formatting, formulas etc.). If this is not what you want (e.g. the result of a formula but not the formula), then use Paste Special.

Your student subscription
- What happens my subscription when I graduate?
Your MS Office subscription is valid throughout your enrolment with UCC and ends upon graduation. You may enroll into other consumer or commercial offers available. If you have MS Office Student Advantage, you should make sure to transfer all your files from your University OneDrive to your personal OneDrive prior to graduation. At expiration, the Office applications enter a reduced-functionality mode, which means documents can be viewed but it isn't possible to edit or create new documents. In addition, online services associated with the school email address, for example Office Online and OneDrive, will no longer work.
- What is included in my student Office 365 subscription?
- Office 365 ProPlus for PC
- Office 365 ProPlus for Mac
- Office Mobile for iPhone
- Office Mobile for Android
- How many devices can I run the subscription on?
Each subscription licence allows you to run Office on up to five machines being Mac or PC. You can also run Office Mobile for Android or Office Mobile for iPhone on up to 5 mobile devices.
