1 How do I print?

All registered students have a Student IT Account. This account allows you to logon to the Open Access Student IT computers, access UCC networked services and it allows you to print to the Open Access Student IT Printers.

All the Open Access Computers are configured to print to the central Student IT Print Service, you don’t need to select or configure a printer. Having logged on the Open Access Computers, you can use the standard built in print options of any of the installed applications, e.g. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint…etc.

2 Can I print from a laptop?

Students using a laptop can print.

  • In a web browser go to http://uprint.ucc.ie
  • Login using your Student IT Account
  • Upload the document you wish to print or enter a web address
  • Click Submit
  • You will see the message You have successfully submitted your job!
  • Your job is now sent, you can release it at any of the Open Access Printers
  • Your job will remain in the queue for 6 hours as standard

3 Can I print from a Chromebook?

Students using a Chromebook can print using Google Cloud Print service.

  • Open your document in the Google application
  • From the top right hand corner, select File
  • Select Print or press Control P
  • Click Print
  • Your job is now sent, you can release it at any of the Open Access Printers
  • Your job will remain in the queue for 6 hours as standard

4 Can I print from my phone?

Yes, using the Google Cloud Print service you can print from iOS and Android devices.

iOS

  • Open a Google application e.g. Drive, Docs, Slides etc. with your umail.ucc.ie account
  • Click on the three dots “...” to open the menu for that file
  • Choose “Print”
  • Choose “Google Cloud Print”
  • Choose “SIT Print Default”
  • Choose Duplex settings and “Print”
  • Release your print job from any SIT Printer (black and white support only at present)

Android

  • Open a Google application e.g. Drive, Docs, Slides etc. with your umail.ucc.ie account

5 Can I print from the wireless network?

Students using the wireless network can print using Uprint http://uprint.ucc.ie

  • In a web browser go to http://uprint.ucc.ie
  • Login using your Student IT Account
  • Upload the document you wish to print or enter a web address
  • Click Submit
  • You will see the message You have successfully submitted your job!
  • Your job is now sent, you can release it at any of the Open Access Printers
  • Your job will remain in the queue for 6 hours as standard

6 Can I print from home?

You can print from anythere there is an internet connection by using Uprint.

  • In a web browser go to http://uprint.ucc.ie
  • Login using your Student IT Account
  • Upload the document you wish to print or enter a web address
  • Click Submit
  • You will see the message You have successfully submitted your job!
  • Your job is now sent, you can release it at any of the Open Access Printers
  • Your job will remain in the queue for 6 hours as standard

7 Releasing a Print Job

Once you have sent a file to the printer you will need to release it from the printer.  Tap your UCC Student ID card on the Card Reader and the Home screen will appear. 

To print documents:

  • Select Secure Print on the screen
  • Highlight the job you want to print
  • Press Print + Delete

To Finish:

  • Logout of the printer using the blue logout button

8 Where can I release my print job?

The IT Services Department operates  “follow-me” style printing. This means your print job can be released at any of the open access Student IT printers, at the time of release.

**Please note that you have 6 hours in which to release your job before it is deleted from the print queue**

9 How do I print on only one side of the paper?

The Open Access Printers print on both sides of the page by default.

To print on one side you will need to chose the 'one sided' printer in the print dialogue box

10 How much will it cost to print?

Printing costs are as follows (all prices quoted are on a per page basis):

A4 Black and White single-sided                 6c per page
A4 Black and White double-sided      6c per page (12c per sheet)
A3 Black and White single-sided 14c per page
A4 Colour single-sided 20c per page
A3 Colour single-sided 40c per page

By default our computers are set to print double sided

*Colour and A3 are available in Boole Library Q, Boole Library Q+3 and Brookfield Library basement

*Prices are subject to change

11 How do I pay for printing?

Payment is taken from your Student Card when you release your print job.

You can topup your print balance; 

  • In a web browser go to https://uccprint.ucc.ie/topup
  • Login using your Student IT Account
  • Press Budget Recharge
  • Set Cash Amount
  • Enter your card details

12 Can I use my own paper in the Student IT Printers?

No.  Only paper supplied by the IT Services Department can be used in the Student IT Printers.

13 Does UCC recycle the waste paper and toner cartridges from the student IT Centres?

Yes, we do. All paper on Campus is separated from other waste, and sent for recycling.

14 Can I print in colour?

Colour printing is available in

  • Boole Library Q
  • Boole Library Q+2
  • Boole Library Q+3
  • Boston Scientific Health Sciences Library (Brookfield) basement
  • Kane Building
  • Western Gateway Building

To print in colour select the “2-SIT-Print-Colour” printer when printing on an IT Services Student IT PC.

1. How do I copy?

Tap your UCC Student ID card on the Card Reader and the Home screen will appear. 

To copy documents:

  • Select Copy on the screen
  • Select your print colour
  • Select your paper size
  • Select 1 or 2 sided 
  • Load the document you wish to copy
  • Select how many copies you want
  • Press the Green start button

To Finish:

  • Logout of the printer using the blue logout button

 

2. Where can I use the copy service?

You can use the copy services in any of the Open Access Student IT Centres that have print & copy services available, for a full list of locations click here

 

3. How much will it cost to copy?

Copy costs are as follows (please note all prices are per page)

A4 B&W 6 cent per page
A3 B&W* 14 cent per page
A4 Colour* 20 cent per page
A3 Colour* 30 cent per page

*Please Note: A3 B&W, A4 Colour, A3 Colour services are only avialable in the Boole Library and Brookfield library.

4. How do I pay for copying?

Payment is taken from your Student Card when you release your print job.

Colour copying is avaialble in the Boole Library and Brookfield Library.  These are the only centres where you can avail of this service.

1. How do I scan to email?

To scan to email follow these instuctions:

Tap your UCC Student ID card on the Card Reader and the Home screen will appear. 

  • Select Scan and Send on the screen
  • Press the Scan 2 Umail button
  • Load the documents you wish to scan and press the green start buton

To Finish:

  • Logout of the printer using the blue logout button

2. Where can I use the scan service?

You can use the scan to email services on any of the multi-function devices in our Open Access Student IT Centre, for a full list of locations click here

3. How much does it cost to scan to email?

There is no cost for this service
