UCC Doctoral Showcase 2012
The UCC Doctoral Showcase takes place today.
The effects of drinking while pregnant, tackling cancer using marine life are research projects that will be showcased by UCC’s doctoral students this Thursday.
The UCC Doctoral Showcase is an annual event which recognises the achievements of our 1,200 doctoral students and provides the finalists with a unique opportunity to communicate their research to a public, non-specialist audience.
All students have been invited to find innovative ways to present their research, from the ‘Three Minute Thesis’ category where students are challenged to present their research using one only slide to aid them, to the ‘Creative Mind’ category where students use music, drama, film or puppetry to explain their research projects.
The showcase aims to demystify PhD research by giving prospective students, employers and external representatives a flavour of the incredible range of research projects underway at UCC in a lively, engaging and accessible way.
The Showcase takes place from 12 noon to 6pm on Thursday June 7th in Devere Hall and is open to the public.
