Intellectual Property and Commercialisation of Research Workshop for the Food and Life Sciences Community at UCC

The Office of Technology Transfer, University College Cork will host a workshop on Intellectual property and the commercialisation of research for our postgraduate research students and university academic researchers on Friday 19th October in Room 247 in the Food Science Building at UCC from 11.30 am until 1 pm. The Workshop will provide researchers with an opportunity to ask questions from our experienced Patent Agent and OTT team.

These interactive workshops are tailored to the needs of postgraduate students and academic researchers interested in adding a commercial dimension to their research, to accelerate the transfer of their ideas and expertise and maximise community or industry benefit. They offer an intensive grounding in the basics of commercialisation and intellectual property protection.

The main Speakers will be Barry Purdy from Purdy Lucey Intellectual Property in Dublin and Dr. Tim Roche, Director of the Office of Technology Transfer, UCC to provide researchers with an informative and practical insight into the commercialisation environment. Topics covered include:

  •     Why commercialise your research
  •     Safeguarding your research outcomes (and still publish)
  •     The Patenting process – Capture and protection of IP
  •     The options for taking your research to the market - from licensing to strategic industry partners to start-up companies
