Doctoral Showcase WinCongratulations to Donal Harrold, for his 2012 Doctoral Showcase win. Congratulations to all SEFS finalists of the 2012 Doctoral Showcase, but especially to Donal Harrold, from the Department of Chemistry, who won prizes in two categories, for his presentation on ‘Tackling cancer using marine life’. Donal was the runner-up in the ‘Waxing Lyrical’ category, which is open to PhD students who are in years 3 and beyond in their research and have just ten minutes to explain their research and its significance. Donal also won the Participants Prize, as voted by his co-competitors.
Donal Harrold is currently studying under the supervision of Dr Stuart Collins, Analytical & Biological Chemistry Research Facility (ABCRF) & Chemistry Department. His research is based on the synthesis of natural products isolated from marine sponges, and investigation of its biological activity and toxicity on cancer cells.
