UCC was the venue for the prestigous annual Society of Dairy Technology Spring conference, which took place in Devere Hall from 10-12th April.

With over 200 delegates, the conference was a great success, with highly positive feedback. Topics discussed at the conference, which takes place against a changing European food landscape, included sectoral policy, developments in infant milk formulation and the role of dairy components. 

 

UCC VP for Research and Innovation, Prof Anita Maguire, welcomed the guests to UCC and to Cork, and delegates were fortunate to visit Teagasc Moorepark, Moorepark Technology Ltd, and Kerrygold Facilities as part of their Technical Tour selection.

 

In addition, Prof Pat Fox, who recently published his book on the history of the UCC Food and Dairy faculty, originated in 1929, provided the after-dinner speech and was warmly recieved by the delegation. There was a large representation from Teagasc at the event, with input from Director Gerry Boyle and researcher Tom O'Callaghan in the areas of sustainability.
