Although an important contributor to the EU economy, the dramatic growth in international maritime trade over the past two decades has also led to a marked increase in aquatic noise pollution, termed “Underwater Radiated Noise” (URN).

18 Jan 2022Congratulations to Robert Troy from CBS Charleville who won two major prizes at this year's BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition (BTYSE) for his project "Smart Yard: IoT monitoring of key farm metrics to reduce agricultural emissions". Giant sunfish numbers increase in Irish waters as temperatures rise

Investigating the impact of wildfires in Ireland
05 Jan 2022New research from UCC's Environmental Research Institute has found there are between 2,300-2,800 wildfires in Ireland each year, with the devastating fire at Killarney National Park last April producing greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to the annual mileage of 7,600 cars.
