The Minister for Enterprise and Jobs, Mr Richard Bruton and the Minister for Research and Innovation, Sean Sherlock, announced details of Science Foundation Ireland’s largest joint state/industry research investment in Irish history.  State investment of €200m will be matched by a contribution of some €100m by the business sector over the next six years.  The Ministers announced that seven centres will be funded, from more than 80 applications submitted in 2012. 

University College Cork is to lead four of the seven centres and to co-lead a fifth and partner the remaining two.

The development of a web-based Consultancy Declaration process, hosted by IRIS, is now available. 

Accurate attribution has always been a challenge in the scholarly sphere. Thomson Reuters has long known this, hence the creation of ResearcherID and founding membership in the ORCID initiative, a universal author ID that is integrated across the Thomson Reuters suite of products.

The Irish Research Council has launched the 2013-2014 round of its Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme

BioPIC 2013 will include lectures from world leaders in the applications of cutting edge imaging and photonics to disease investigation and treatment.  It will attract over 150 scientists, clinicians, students and post-docs for participation in sessions on Molecular Imaging, New Technologies, Diagnostic Imaging, Novel Probes and more.
