OECD Centre for Skills

26 Oct 2022

On the 26th of October, the Deputy President and Registrar represented UCC as part of the OECD Skills Strategy project for Ireland.  The regional workshop, organised for the South West, South East and Mid-West.

In the OECD Skills Strategy project for Ireland, the OECD is working together with Ireland to review how Ireland’s National Skills Strategy 2025 might need to be adapted to ensure that it is still fit for purpose, and identify policy priorities for Ireland by reviewing the most important challenges and opportunities for Ireland’s skills system. The regional workshop was a platform for enterprises to contribute to this project.  As key stakeholders in Ireland’s skills system, enterprises were invited by the OECD to take an active role to ensure that the assessment and recommendations are actionable and reflective of the specificities of Ireland’s context regarding its labour market and business needs. The workshop aimed to identify priority recommendation and to highlight the specific actions that Ireland could take to implement the most important recommendation.
