Biography:

Niamh is a HRB SPHeRE (Structured Population and Health Services Research Education) PhD Scholar. She works as part of the ESPRIT (Evidence to Support Prevention, Implementation and Translation) research team in the area of diabetes care. She graduated from UCC with a BA in Applied Psychology in 2015 and with an MA in Applied Psychology (Mental Health) in 2016. Her undergraduate thesis examined the impact of internalised weight bias on body size perceptual accuracy and her postgraduate thesis explored the use of walking as a mode of delivering psychotherapy in Ireland. Niamh joined the School of Public Health in February 2017 where she worked as a research assistant on an Infant Feeding Core Outcome Set study funded by the Irish Research Council and subsequently on Professor Patricia Kearney's HRB Research Leader Award in Diabetes and on Dr. Sheena Mc Hugh's CARDI (Centre for Ageing Research and Development in Ireland) funded research programme on falls prevention in older adults.
