"Where Finbarr taught let Munster learn"
Wednesday, 25 September, saw the President being presented with a copy of the Air to St Finbarr framed sheet music.
Saint Finbarr is the patron saint of Cork city and of the diocese of Cork. His feast day is September 25.
Ms Ruth McDonnell, former head of Media and Public Relations at UCC, invited Dr Fiachra O'Corragain, harper, musician and composer from Co. Cork, to write a new harp piece, Air to St Finbarr, in honour of the saint, on the occasion of her retirement from UCC.
The harp duet was performed by Ms McDonnell and Dr O'Corragain in the beautiful grounds of the President's Garden on Wednesday morning to an appreciative audience.
