Student Presentation Awards at NUSOD
Physics PhD students Aisling Power and Neil O'Connor won oral presentation awards at NUSOD (Conference on Numerical Simulation of Optoelectronic Devices) which took place from 19-24th of July in UCC.
Congratulations to both students who are supervised by Dr. Stefan Schulz (School of Physics, UCC/Tyndall) and co-supervised by Professor Peter Parbrook (School of Engineering, UCC/Tyndall) and Dr. Emanuele Pelucchi (Tyndall/School of Physics, UCC)
Aisling Power won first prize.
Talk title: "(B,Al,Ga)N quantum wells for ultraviolet light emitters: The role of the alloy microstructure for the electronic and optical properties" (A. Power, R. Finn, S. Schulz)
Neil O'Connor won second prize.
Talk title: "Toward the Predictive Modeling of Excitonic States in [111]-oriented Site-Controlled GaAs QDs" (N. D. O’Connor, G. Juška, E. Pelucchi, S. Schulz)

Both their work has been funded by Taighde Eireann-Research Ireland including for Neil through the Research Ireland Research Centre IPIC.
