Postgraduate Researchers Showcase Photonics Research at International Conference
Members of the Nonlinear Dynamics & Photonics Group recently presented their research at the biennial Photonics Europe conference, held in Strasbourg, France, from 12–16 April. Organised by SPIE, the event brings together leading researchers and industry experts from around the world to discuss advances in photonics, lasers, optical communications, sensing, and quantum technologies.
PhD students Diarmuid O'Sullivan and Sean O'Donoghue represented the group at the conference, where both delivered oral presentations on their research.
A particular highlight was Diarmuid's paper, "Chaos Generation Controlled via Modulation Frequency of a Gain Switched Laser", which received the Best Student Paper Award in the Semiconductor Lasers and Laser Dynamics XII conference track. The award recognises outstanding student-led research in the field of semiconductor laser dynamics.
The conference provided an excellent opportunity to share research findings, engage with international experts, and strengthen collaborations within the global photonics community.
