Classical Mechanics Video of the Year for 2025: Resonance of Instruments
The annual Classical Mechanics Video of the Year competition once again brought creativity, humour, and impressive physical insight to the spotlight. This year’s challenge asked students to produce a video demonstrating the dynamics of coupled oscillators—a topic rich with surprisigng behaviour and everyday applications.
Students rose to the task with remarkable imagination. Submissions featured everything from virtual oscillators, oscillating dogs and cats, metronomes, clothes pegs, kayaks and lab made pendulums and spring systems. The diversity of approaches showcased not only the students’ grasp of the physics, but also their ingenuity in visualising and communicating complex ideas.
After much deliberation, Nico Brinzoni, Luke O’Mara, and Sebastian Blaskovics were elected as the 2025 winners for their standout video:
“Resonance of Instruments.”
