The MSc programme in Molecular Cell Biology with Bioinnovation aims to recruit highly-motivated students with an interest in research and entrepreneurial thinking. The concept behind the MSc programme is to blend excellence in hypothesis-driven scientific research with innovation, commercialisation and entrepreneurship skills.
This MSc degree will help students gain a business skill set while they hone their expertise in one of three scientific disciplinary strands – cancer biology, infection/immunity, or molecular neuroscience. The core of the MSc in Molecular Cell Biology is a six-month research project, offered with internationally recognized research investigators in UCC as well as select industrial partners. Students may also travel abroad to carry out their project through our partnership with the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL).
A unique feature of this MSc programme is that all students will receive formal innovation and technology commercialisation training (3 modules/15 credits) through the School of Business and Law at UCC.
On completion, graduates will not only possess excellent research and technical skills but also the necessary business development and commercialisation skills for life science innovation.
