Selection Criteria for International Students

The School hosts a number of international students  from various parts of the world such as Vietnam, India, Malaysia and Canada.  There are a number of entry routes depending on your education.

Entry Requirements

 Entry standards in GCE A Level, Cambridge Overseas Higher School Certificate, STPM Examinations (or equivalent) for Non European Students

(a)   For those presenting three subjects:

Grades ABB, AAC* or higher at the SAME sitting in Chemistry and two of the following three subjects – Physics, Biology and Mathematics – provided a minimum Grade B at GCSE/O level or equivalent examination has been attained in the remaining subject.

or

(b)   For those presenting four subjects:

Grades ABCC* or BBBB or higher grades at the SAME sitting in the following subjects – Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.

*UCC requires a minimum grade B at A level (or equivalent) in Chemistry for Pharmacy.

 

Matriculation

Students must also present passes in 6 subjects drawn from A levels or Cambridge Overseas Higher School Certificate or STPM Examination and School Certificate Examination or SMP Examinations in order to satisfy the University’s matriculation requirements.

 

Entry standards in International Baccalaureate

Minimum attainment of 36 points in the International Baccalaureate as follows:

Minimum Higher Grade 5 in Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics or Biology

Minimum Subsidiary Grade 5 in the remaining three subjects.

 

Entry standards for students presenting the Indian School Leaving Examination (Grade 12)

Standard XII examinations of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) or the Indian Council School Examinations (ICSE) are required.  Candidates must hold first Division/Class standing and a Statement of Marks with a minimum of 90% in two subjects (one of which must be chemistry) and 75% in the remainder.  A statement of marks must be submitted for grades X, XI and XII.

Grade XII subjects must include English language, Chemistry and either Physics or Biology and Mathematics.

 

Entry standards for students presenting Scottish Highers

AAABB.  Subjects must include Chemistry and either Physics or Biology and Mathematics.

Entry standards for students presenting the Canadian High School Diploma (All provinces except Quebec)

Grade 12 secondary school Diploma (advanced level).  Overall minimum 80%.  Students must obtain competitive scores in Chemistry, Mathematics and either Physics or Biology.

 

Entry standards for students presenting the DEC (Diplome d’Etudes Collegiales) in Quebec

Students must have an overall minimum of 80%.  Students must obtain competitive scores in Chemistry, Mathematics and either Physics or Biology.

 

Entry standards for students presenting the Tawjihiyah (General Secondary Education Certificate) – Entry to Foundation Programme.

Minimum 6 subjects, to include English language, Chemistry and either Physics or Biology and Mathematics with a minimum overall score of 95%.

 

English Language Requirement

A minimum IELTS score of 6.5 (or equivalent) with 6.5 in each section will be required for admission to Pharmacy at UCC in respect of all students whose first language is not English, except for students taking A Levels and the International Baccalaureate.
