UCC partners with Future University in Egypt (FUE) in the delivery of an enhanced BSc. Pharmacy degree in Egypt
The official ceremony for the signing of a Cooperation Agreement between University College Cork and Future University in Egypt (FUE) was at UCC on 18th September 2014. Professor Ebada Sarhan, President of FUE and Professor Michael Murphy, UCC, signed an agreement whereby the School of Pharmacy, UCC will support the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmaceutical Industries, FUE in the delivery of an enhanced Pharmacy degree programme by FUE in Cairo.
The aim of this cooperation agreement is to enhance the teaching and learning of students graduating with the FUE B.Sc. Pharmary degree. UCC will support FUE in the delivery of an enhanced Pharmacy curriculum with appropriate mentoring and guidance from UCC staff. The agreement is considered to be a first step leading to an improved international standing of FUE’s pharmacy program, particularly in the areas of clinical pharmacy and pharmacy practice reflecting the best practices of a European Pharmacy degree. Furthermore it is envisioned that UCC and FUE will develop collaborative relationships on research and postgraduate programmes at FUE, leading to Masters and PhD’s in Pharmacy related disciplines.
The shared aspirations and goals of the two universities will be reflected through a number of ongoing activities such as students and staff exchanges, seminars, research projects, as well as regular annual audits conducted by UCC team assessing continuing progress and improvements in FUE School of Pharmacy curriculum.
