UCC interdisciplinary research team conducts Irish Department of Health commissioned project

An interdisciplinary research team based at University College Cork conducted an Irish Department of Health commissioned project entitled “A systematic literature review to support a framework for the development of standards for clinical practice guidance”.

The team comprised of Professor Josephine Hegarty, Professor Eileen Savage, Dr Nicola Cornally, Dr Kathleen McLoughlin, Dr Serena Fitzgerald (School of Nursing and Midwifery), Professor Stephen Byrne (School of Pharmacy), Dr Pat Henn (School of Medicine) and Maura Flynn (The  Library), University College Cork supported by the expert guidance of Professor Gordon H. Guyatt, McMaster University, Canada.

Patient safety and quality assurance is a priority across all areas of the Irish healthcare system. The broad aim of the project was to complete a systematic literature review to support a framework for the development of standards for clinical practice guidance, of varying complexity and scope. Within the review the team sought to address thirteen individual review questions relevant to guidance development, implementation and evaluation.
