Elaine Enright, a 2014 graduate of the School of Pharmacy, was recently awarded a prestigious Irish Research Council (IRC) Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship to complete a PhD in the School of Pharmacy and APC Microbiome Institute in UCC.

The work will be supervised by Drs. Brendan Griffin, Cormac Gahan and Susan Joyce and will investigate the influence of gut bacteria (the microbiota) upon oral drug delivery and efficacy. The four year work programme represents an exciting trans-disciplinary interaction between the School of Pharmacy and the APC Microbiome Institute and is expected to uncover how the microbiota may influence individual responses to oral drug delivery.
