The Irish Gerontological Society Conference 2019

This year’s Irish Gerontological Society’s Annual and Scientific Meeting took place in Cork from 26th-28th September 2019. The conference had a vibrant scientific programme and hosted over 430 delegates. The Centre for Gerontology and Rehabilitation won two prizes for excellence relating to their Parkinson's disease research focused on wearable technology.

The following two conference papers were given prestigious awards at this conference:

1. Centre for Gerontology and Rehabilitation / Tyndall: User Preferences for the Design of Wearable Technology Systems – A Scoping Review. Clíona O’Riordan, Lorna Kenny, Salvatore Tedesco, Marco Sica, Colum Crowe, John Barton, Suzanne Timmons, Brendan O’Flynn.

2. Centre for Gerontology and Rehabilitation / Tyndall / CUBS /Parkinson’s Association of Ireland: An Exploration of the Feasibility and Acceptability of Wearable Technology in Parkinson’s Disease. Lorna Kenny, Clíona O’Riordan, Tony Wilkinson, Mary O’Sullivan, Janis Agurjanovs, Salvatore Tedesco, Marco Sica, Colum Crowe, John Barton, Suzanne Timmons.
