The 8th Neuroscience Ireland Conference University College Cork

The 8th Neuroscience Ireland Conference was held in University College Cork on Sept 12th & 13th 2013. The theme of the conference was “Brain Disorders Across the Lifespan: Translational Neuroscience From Molecule to Man“. The programme highlighted recent insights into the workings of the brain in health and disease. Some of the highlights of this hugely successful meeting included

Having 190 Registrants, 11 Exhibitors, 23 Oral presentations over two days, 110 Poster presentations, 11 International speakers (from the USA, UK, France, Finland, Austria and Sweden) and 12 National speakers. PDRC members Drs Aideen Sullivan, Gerard O’Keeffe and Sean O’Sullivan were on the organizing committee.


Neurodegeneration was a major theme of the meeting, and of particular interest to the PDRC was a scientific session titled “Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease: mechanisms, biomarkers and treatments” co-chaired by Drs Cora O’Neill and Sean O’Sullivan.
