The School of Nursing and Midwifery is delighted to announce the official opening of its self-contained Simulation Suite, which will complement the existing state of the art simulation facilities within the Clinical Skills Simulation Resource Centre.
The suite consists of three high-fidelity simulation rooms which replicate a standard hospital high dependency unit environment. Each location is equipped with an extensive range of information technology and audio-visual equipment, thus equipped as one would expect to see in an acute hospital.
High fidelity mannequins controlled from a central control room are complimented with an extensive audio-visual management system supplied from B-Line Medical from Washington, USA which specializes in the delivery of robust, yet easy to use web-based solutions that have helped over 200 top hospitals, medical schools and nursing programs in 11 countries, operate and manage their training and QA programs more effectively.
B-Line Medical is a digital solutions firm focused on the capture, debriefing and assessment of medical training and events and thus allows for the recording of multiple cameras and the immediate review of same in any of the associated classrooms within the School. This is a major accomplishment for the School and one of the first developments of its kind within the Schools of Nursing in Ireland. We are excited by the teaching, learning and research opportunities and view this as an opportunity to contribute to the overall patient safety agenda.
