Summer School on Family Research
A 3-day Summer School on Family Research, held in the School of Nursing and Midwifery on 26th, 27th and 28th of August 2013, turned out to be a great success. The Summer School was facilitated by Dr. Kathy Knafl and Dr. Marcia Van Riper (From the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill).
Both Drs. are renowned leaders in family research with expertise in a wide array of family frameworks and methods. They also have experience in studying families facing varied health care challenges, and a record of success in obtaining funding for family research. Participants attending the Summer School were from a range of disciplines including Nursing & Midwifery, Occupational Therapy, Law and Marketing. Though focused on Family research the facilitators covered a wide range of topics pertinent to undertaking different types of research and systematic reviews. It is intended to run this Summer School here again next year so watch out for it – – “a great learning experience” was expressed by all attendees.
