Vanessa represented the School of Nursing and Midwifery, at the recent NMBI debate at which Mrs Higgins was the guest of honour. This was the third year of this prestigious event held to celebrate NMBI's National Midwives Week. The debate took place at Trinity College Dublin on May 4th. Vanessa and her team opposed the motion that "This house believes contemporary maternity services reflect the commitment made to women and children in the 1916 proclamation". There were 6 students in total representing the Higher Education Institutes who offer midwifery education programmes.
