School of Nursing and Midwifery Graduate Studies Away Day

Students, supervisors, guest speakers attended a graduate studies’ away day. 

Topics such as interviewing technique, consent, observational research, methodological challenges in doing educational research, sexual functioning in women with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, quality assessment of included studies within a systematic review were covered. Presenters included: Dr Bridie McCarthy, Anne-Marie Martin, Aoife Lane, Mary Forde, Professor Anthony Gallagher, Dr Aileen Burton, Dr Sile Creedon, Joan Murphy, Professor Josephine Hegarty, presented on the day. Attendees engaged in vigorous debate about the processes involved in and the merits of doctoral research. Graduate studies away days are held twice a year and provide a great forum for students and supervisors to engage in debate and learn about different approaches to dealing with methodological challenges.
