Master class: Competence for Nurses and Midwives: A Sharing of Insights
The Catherine McAuley School of Nursing and Midwifery, University College Cork (UCC) hosted a Master-class titled: 'Continuing Competence for Nurses and Midwives: A Sharing of Insights’ on the 7th June 2017.
The Catherine McAuley School of Nursing and Midwifery, University College Cork (UCC) hosted a Master-class titled: 'Continuing Competence for Nurses and Midwives: A Sharing of Insights’ on the 7th June 2017. The presenters included: Professor Rachel Vernon, Dr Elizabeth Heffernan, and Professor Josephine Hegarty. Professor Rachel Vernon, School of Nursing and Midwifery, University of South Australia presented her professional and research experiences relating to continuing competence with a particular focus on the experiences of continuing competence schema in New Zealand, Australia and the USA. In addition, Dr Elizabeth Heffernan, Director of Nurse & Midwifery Education, Kerry Centre of Nurse & Midwifery Education discussed the findings of her doctorate on the subject of continuing competence. Professor Hegarty concluded the Master class by outlining the debates relating to health care professional’s continuing competence within the overall context of patient safety
