The School was visited recently – 24 – 27 September - by four lecturers (Ms Christine Marchal, Ms Leila Mokeddem, Ms Anne Marie Garnier and Mr Olivier Bertrand) from L'Institut de Formation Interhospitalier Théodore Simon, Paris, France. The visit was organised in the context of a possible bilateral Erasmus agreement between the School and IFITS. During their stay they visited Cork University Hospital, Bon Secours Hospital, Eist Linn and Tos Nu, the latter two mental health service facilities. In the School they met with Professor Eileen Savage, Dr Alice Coffey and Dr Mark Tyrrell to hear about the school’s Research and Undergraduate and Postgraduate activities. Sinead O’Brien facilitated a visit to the CSSRC, which the visitors found very beneficial. Towards the end of the week, a meeting with Clare Murphy, Erasmus Coordinator at the International Education Office resulted in the signing of a bilateral agreement, which now opens the way for student and staff exchange, and collaboration in the areas of research, teaching and curriculum developments. They are very interested in the School’s expertise in clinical skills simulation. They are in the process of organising an International Week in April 2014, and look forward to possible contributions from lecturers from the School. I would like to thank all those who contributed in making their visit such a success.
