Teaching Methods: 6 x 4hr(s) Lectures (Participants are required to attend 6 x 4 hrs lectures. The lecture time on campus follows a seminar format and involves inter alia working in groups); Directed Study (Autonomous student learning (off campus) is supported by on-line materials and e-mentoring and takes the form of directed reading, case studes and specific assignment tasks)

Module Objective: To propose a systematic framework of contractual value for money (VfM) negotiations and monitor compliance with VfM criteria.
Module Content: Value for money, transactional versus partnership relations
Service level agreements (SLA), Key Performance Indicators(KPI), innovation opportunities.
Learning Outcome: On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
  • Discuss the importance of key contract terms and conditions to facilitate risk management and negotiation
  • Create, monitor and report service level agreements and key performance indicators for contract compliance
  • Create, capture and use end-to-end supplier information management
  • Recognise the relationship between supplier relationship management and innovation opportunities.
Assessment: Total Marks 100: Continuous Assessment 100 marks (1 x 2000 word Individual Portfolio, 50 marks; 1 x Individual case study analysis, 30 marks; Presentation, 20 marks).
Compulsory Elements: Continuous Assessment.
Penalties (for late submission of course/project work etc.): Where work is submitted up to and including 7 days late, 5% of the total marks available shall be deducted from the mark achieved. Where work is submitted up to and including 14 days late, 10% of the total marks available shall be deducted from the mark achieved. Work submitted 15 days late or more shall be assigned a mark of zero.
Pass Standard and any Special Requirements for Passing Module: 40%.
End of Year Written Examination Profile: No Formal Written Examination.
Requirements for Supplemental Examination: Marks in passed element(s) of Continuous Assessment are carried forward, Failed element(s) of Continuous Assessment must be repeated.
