Module Objective: The purpose of this module is to deliver an understanding of change processes at an individual and organisational level. It will examine the role of the manager in times of change and will explore how change can be successfully planned and implemented within an organisation.
Module Content: · Planned and unplanned change
· Understanding individual and group responses to change
· Managing conflict and resistance to change
· Legislative considerations
· Consultation and communication during periods of change
· Evaluating the impact of change.
Learning Outcome: On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
  • Distinguish between planned and unplanned change processes.
  • Deliver effective planned change interventions with cognisance of individual responses to change.
  • Discuss the interpersonal and intrapersonal dimensions to change.
  • Explain the legal aspects impacting on managing change.
  • Demonstrate best practice in developing a communication approach to meet the needs of a change programme.
  • Evaluate the impact of change on the organisation and the individuals within it.
Assessment: Total Marks 100: Continuous Assessment 100 marks (1 x 2,000 word essay (100 marks)).
Compulsory Elements: Continuous Assessment.
Penalties (for late submission of course/project work etc.): Where work is submitted up to and including 7 days late, 5% of the total marks available shall be deducted from the mark achieved. Where work is submitted up to and including 14 days late, 10% of the total marks available shall be deducted from the mark achieved. Work submitted 15 days late or more shall be assigned a mark of zero.
Pass Standard and any Special Requirements for Passing Module: 40%.
End of Year Written Examination Profile: No Formal Written Examination.
Requirements for Supplemental Examination: Marks in passed element(s) of Continuous Assessment are carried forward, Failed element(s) of Continuous Assessment must be repeated (as prescribed by the module co-ordinator).
