UNIVERSITY STAFF AWARDS CEREMONY - MEU staff honoured
On Thursday 6th October 2016 , at a ceremony in the Aula Maxima, UCC honoured a number of staff members for their outstanding contributions to University life. The Awards Ceremony combined presentations and accolades to winners from three separate award schemes: Teaching & Learning; Staff Recognition; and Research.
In the Teaching & Learning Awards category,MEU staff Pat Henn, Irina Korotchikova, Simon Smith and Sinead Riome were awarded a Team Award for Excellence in Teaching and Learning 2016. The team received the award for their teaching project “High-fidelity Paediatric Emergency Simulation”, which is run for the final year medical students. UCC has a long, pioneering, tradition of recognising and rewarding teaching excellence within the University. In 2002, UCC was the first university in Ireland to introduce a Teaching Awards recognition scheme and since then a number of other universities have followed suit. UCC also has within Ireland the highest number of teaching staff with NUI-accredited qualification in teaching and learning at higher education.
