External Relations

Members of the Unit work with key stakeholders in the areas of healthcare and health professions education nationally and internationally. Examples include our work with the Medical Council, the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI), the Health Information Quality Authority (HIQA) and the World Health Organisation (WHO). The Medical Education Unit at UCC also has strong links to national and international organisations focussing on research into Medical Education.

INMED

The Irish Network of Medical Educators (INMED) is a voluntary group of healthcare education professionals in Ireland. INMED includes members from all Irish medical schools and training bodies, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. UCC School of Medicine is one of the founding schools of INMED.

INMED’s mission statement:

“The Network seeks to enhance medical education on the island of Ireland by bringing together individuals and organisations with an interest in and responsibilities in medical and healthcare education in a National Medical Education Network.”

ASME

The Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME) is an independent, non-statutory organisation covering the UK & Ireland, run by doctors and healthcare educationalists for all individuals and organisations who participate in, and are responsible for, the delivery of medical education, training and continuing professional development.

ASME’s Mission

To meet the needs of teachers, trainers and learners in medical education by supporting research-informed, best practice across the continuum of medical education.

ASME’s Strategic Aim:

To allow members to share and further best practice in Medical Education

To position ourselves as a UK & Ireland focused, internationally-facing, trusted and dynamic organisation, working with our members, for our members
