Teaching Facilities

The medical school at UCC is extremely proud of its modern state of the art facilities. We believe that our physical environment is very important in teaching and learning. All of our buildings are new, well-designed and extremely pleasant places to learn and study in. Importantly, our facilities are only a few minutes walk from each other and from UCC main campus, with its wonderful mix of historic old buildings and stunning new architecture.

Brookfield Health Sciences Complex

The medical school at UCC is located in the new, purpose-built and beautifully designed Brookfield Health Sciences Complex, which also houses the School of Nursing and Midwifery and the School of Clinical Therapies. Mature trees and a riverside setting contribute to the aesthetic appeal of Brookfield Health Sciences Complex. Lectures, tutorials and clinical skills teaching take place here. The medical school has advanced simulation facilities (including an advanced Human Patient Simulator). Brookfield Health Sciences Complex also has an excellent library providing a vast range of print and online resources and a number of spacious study rooms.

Western Gateway Complex

This stunning new complex is located beside Brookfield Health Sciences Complex, across a footbridge over the river Lee. Physiology laboratories and Pharmacology are located here, along with the renowned FLAME Anatomy laboratory which attracts visitors from all over the world and is Ireland’s leading Anatomy laboratory.
