Statute LXXV.

Irish Universities Act, 1908

University College, Cork

We, the Governing Body of University College, Cork, under and by virtue of the powers in that behalf conferred on us by the said Act, Do by this present instrument under the Seal of University College, Cork, make the Statute contained in the Schedule hereof for the general government of the said College.

Given under the Common Seal of University College, Cork, this twenty-second day of June, 1967.

Statute LXXV.

Schedule

Statutes I. to LXXIV. of University College, Cork shall be read and construed with the additions, modifications and amendments hereinafter set forth.

CHAPTER I.
Lectureship in Pathology No. 2

  1. There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in Pathology No. 2.
  2. The said lectureship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University The term "full-time" in this case shall not be interpreted as precluding the holder of the lectureship from holding and receiving a stipend wholly in respect of a full-time appointment of the kind specified in section 6 of this Chapter. He shall, however, be precluded from engaging in private practice or consultations in any form or retaining any fees which may be received by him in connection with his work.
  3. The annual stipend of the lectureship shall be £1,205 increasing by annual increments of £40 to £1,405. If recommended by the President and approved by the Governing Body the annual stipend shall then proceed by further annual increments of £40 to a maximum of £1,605. The provisions of Statute LXVII., Chapter IV., as amended by Statute LXX., Chapter III., section 1, and by Statute LXXIII., Chapter IV., section 1, shall also apply to the office.
  4. The said lectureship shall be a pensionable office and Table A of the Additional Pension Scheme annexed to Statute XXXIX., Chapter II., as already amended, is hereby further amended by the addition of the said office thereto. In calculating the pension of this office the provisions of Statute XXXIX., Chapter II., section 6(b), in respect of seven added years shall not apply.
  5. The duties of the lecturer shall be to lecture in Pathology under the direction of the Professor of Pathology for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in Pathology for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall, in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him by the said Professor of Pathology.
  6. The said lectureship shall be tenable only by a member of the medical staff of the teaching hospital recognised by the College and the University in which the Professor of Pathology has, as of right for teaching and research purposes, access to the pathological materials and specimens in the hospital, and where the holder of the lectureship has been appointed to assist him.

CHAPTER II.
Lectureship in History

  1. There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in Irish History.
  2. The said lectureship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the lectureship shall be the same as that provided in Statute LXXIII., Chapter I., section 5(a)(i). The provisions of Statute LXVII., Chapter IV., as amended by Statute LXX., Chapter III., section 1, and by Statute LXXIII., Chapter IV., section 1, shall also apply to the office.
  3. The duties of the lecturer shall be to lecture in Irish History under the direction of the Professor of Irish History for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in Irish History for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall, in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him by the said Professor of Irish History.
  4. The said lectureship shall be a pensionable office and Table A of the Additional Pension Scheme annexed to Statute XXXIX., Chapter II., as already amended, is hereby further amended by the addition of the said office thereto.

CHAPTER III.
Faculties

The Faculty of Commerce shall, as from 1 October, 1967, consist of the President and the Professors and /or Lecturers in the following subjects:

Accounting
Accounting and Business Administration
Economics
Law (Common Law, Real Property and Equity)
Law (Jurisprudence, Roman Law and Personal Property)
Law
Public Administration
Sociology
Statistics

and Statute XXVII., Chapter II., as already amended, is hereby further amended accordingly.

CHAPTER IV.

The lectureships established by this Statute shall, subject to the provisions of Chapter I. in respect of the lectureship established by that Chapter, be tenable for the same term and upon the same conditions and the holders thereof shall be subject to the same duties and obligations as if the said lectureships had been included in Statutes I. to LXXIV. of University College, Cork.

CHAPTER V.

  1. This Statute shall be construed with and as part of Statutes I. to LXXIV. of University College, Cork and may be cited as Statute LXXV. of University College, Cork or Stat. LXXV. of Univ. Coll. Cork.
  2. This Statute shall come into operation on the twenty-second day of June, 1967.
