Statute LIV.

Irish Universities Act, 1908

University College, Cork

We, the Governing Body of University College, Cork, under and by virtue of the powers in that behalf conferred on us by the said Act, Do by this present instrument under the Seal of University College, Cork, make the Statute contained in the Schedule hereof for the general government of the said College.

Given under the Common Seal of University College, Cork, this twenty-first day of October, 1953.

Statute LIV.

Schedule

Statutes I. to LIII. of University College, Cork, shall be read and construed with the additions, modifications and amendments hereinafter set forth.

CHAPTER I.
Lectureship in General Philosophy

  1. There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the Senate of the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in General Philosophy.
  2. The said Lectureship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the Statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the Lectureship shall be the same as those provided for in Statute LI., Chapter I., Section 3(c). The provisions of Statute LI., Chapter I., Section 5, and Chapter II., Section 1, shall also apply to the office.
  3. The duties of the Lecturer shall be to lecture and examine in General Philosophy under the direction of the Professor of Philosophy, and to discharge such other duties in the Department of Philosophy as shall be assigned to him by the said Professor.
  4. The said Lectureship shall be a pensionable office, and Table A of the Additional Pension Scheme annexed to Statute XXXIX., Chapter II., as already amended, shall hereby be further amended by the addition of the said office thereto.

CHAPTER II.
Lectureship in French

  1. There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the Senate of the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in French.
  2. The said Lectureship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the Statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the Lectureship shall be the same as those provided for in Statute LI., Chapter I., Section 3(c). The provisions of Statute LI., Chapter I., Section 5, and Chapter II., Section I, shall also apply to the office.
  3. The duties of the Lecturer shall be to lecture and examine in French under the direction of the Professor of Romance Languages and to discharge such other duties in the Department of Romance Languages as shall be assigned to him by the said Professor.
  4. The said Lectureship shall be a pensionable office, and Table A of the Additional Pension Scheme annexed to Statute XXXIX., Chapter II., as already amended, shall be further amended by the addition of the said office thereto.

CHAPTER III.
Professorship of Archaeology

  1. The Professorship of Archaeology in the College established by Statute I., Chapter XIII., Section l, shall cease to be a part-time Professorship and the said Professorship shall be a full-time Professorship and the present holder of the said Professorship shall be deemed to be a full-time Professor within the meaning of the Statutes of the College and of the University.
  2. The stipend of the Professorship shall be in accordance with the provisions of Statute LI., Chapter I., Section 3(c). The provisions of Statute LI., Chapter I., Section 5, and Chapter II., Section 1. shall also apply to the Office.
  3. The said Professorship shall be a pensionable office and Table A of the Additional Pension Scheme annexed to Statute XXXIX., Chapter II., as already amended, shall be further amended by the addition of the said office thereto.

CHAPTER IV.
Research Lectureship in Nuclear Physics

The Research Lectureship in Nuclear Physics established by Statute LI., Chapter V., shall be deemed to be abolished on the occurrence of a vacancy caused by the resignation or otherwise of the first holder of the office.

CHAPTER V.
Pension Fund No. 2

The provisions of the Additional Pension Scheme provided for in Statute XXXIX., Chapter II., Section 10, as amended, shall be further amended by the deletion of the word "fifteen" and the substitution therefor of the word " ten " in the second line of the said Section 10, and this amendment shall be deemed to have had effect as from the date of enactment of Statute XXXIX.

CHAPTER VI.
Evidence of Age

The holder of any office, as well as any employee or servant of the College, or any applicant for an office or employment in the College, shall be under an obligation to submit, on request, such evidence as to age as shall be required by the Governing Body of the College.

CHAPTER VII.

The Professorship and Lectureships instituted by this Statute shall be tenable for the same term and on the same conditions and the holders thereof shall be subject to the same duties and obligations as if the said offices had been included in Statutes I. to LIII. of University College, Cork.

CHAPTER VIII.

  1. This Statute shall be construed with and as part of Statutes I. to LIII. of University College, Cork, and may be cited as Statute LIV. of University College, Cork, or Stat. LIV. of Univ. Coll., Cork.
  2. This Statute shall come into operation on the thirty-first day of October, 1953.
