Statute LII.
Irish Universities Act, 1908
University College, Cork
We, the Governing Body of University College, Cork, under
and by virtue of the powers in that behalf conferred on us by
the said Act, Do by this present instrument under the Seal
of University College, Cork, make the Statute contained in
the Schedule hereof for the general government of the said
College.
Given under the Common Seal of University College, Cork, this first day of May, 1952.

Statute LII.
Schedule
Statutes I. to LI. of University College, Cork, shall be
read and construed with the additions, modifications and
amendments hereinafter set forth.
CHAPTER I.
Lectureship in Mathematics and Mathematical Physics.
- There shall be established in the College, in the event of
its institution by the Senate of the National University of
Ireland, a Lectureship in Mathematics and Mathematical
Physics.
- The said Lectureship shall be a full-time office within
the meaning of the Statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend shall be £800 per annum, increasing by
annual increments of £30 to a maximum stipend of £1,100
per annum.
- The duties of the Lecturer shall be to lecture and
examine in Mathematics and Mathematical Physics for all
Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates of the College, as well as of
the National University of Ireland. The Lecturer shall carry
out such portion of his duties as relate to Mathematics under
the direction of the Professor of Mathematics and such
portion of his duties as relate to Mathematical Physics under
the direction of the Professor of Mathematical Physics.
- The said Lectureship shall be a pensionable office
and Table A of the Additional Pension Scheme annexed to
Statute XXXIX., Chapter II., is amended by the addition
of the said office thereto.
- The Lectureship instituted by this Statute shall be
tenable for the same term and on the same conditions, and the
holder thereof shall in addition to the duties and obligations
imposed by this Statute be subject to the same duties and
obligations as if the said Lectureship had been included in
Statutes I. to LI. of University College, Cork.
- On the coming into operation of this Statute, the
Lectureship in Mathematics instituted by Statute XXIV.,
Chapter VI., shall be abolished.
CHAPTER II.
Children's Allowances
Section 1., Chapter II. of Statute LI. is hereby amended
by the deletion therefrom of the words "Secondary School"
and the substitution therefor of the words " teaching institution of less than University rank or until the completion of the eighteenth year of age, whichever shall first occur."
CHAPTER III.
Trustee Securities
Section 5 of Chapter II. of Statute XXXIX. is hereby
amended by the deletion therefrom of the words "such
securities as Trustees in Éire may be authorised to invest in"
and the substitution therefor of the words "the manner provided for in Section 5, Chapter IX., of Statute I."
CHAPTER IV.
Pension Fund No. 5
The present holder of the Professorship of Dairy Technology
shall be entitled on retirement to a pension in respect of his
services in the post of Manager of the College Experimental
Dairy and Auxiliary Creamery. Such pension shall be
calculated on the annual remuneration of £240 in the same
manner as the pension payable to the holder of the said
Professorship, and shall be payable out of Pension Fund No. 5.
Chapter V. of Statute XXXIX., is hereby amended as far
as may be necessary to give effect to the provisions of this
Chapter, but no further or otherwise.
- Statute XLVII., as amended by Statute LI., is hereby
Further amended by the addition of the following Sub-sections to Statute XLVII., Chapter II. :
- (f) Each married full-time male statutory officer of the
College shall contribute to the Scheme for Payments
to Widows as set forth in this Chapter, unless in
special cases the Governing Body, on the recommendation of the President, exempts him from this
obligation.
- (g) Notwithstanding the provisions of Sub-section (d)
above every male holder of a full-time statutory
office in the College who has not yet availed of the
Scheme for Payments to Widows, shall unless
exempted in accordance with Sub-section (f)
above participate in the Scheme, and shall pay
into the appropriate fund within one calendar
month of the date of coming in to operation of this
Statute the contributions he would have paid had
he availed himself before the twenty-eighth day of
April, 1949, of the provisions of the said Scheme.
- (a) Statute LI., Chapter 1., Section 5 (ii) (a) is hereby
amended by the insertion of the words "as part-time Professors
and/or " immediately before the words "as part-time Lecturers " as if such words had been included in the said Statute
LI.
- (b) This amendment shall be deemed to have effect as
from the date on which said Section has had effect.
- This Statute shall be construed with and as part of
Statutes I. to LI. of University College, Cork, and may be
cited as Statute LII. of University College, Cork, or Stat.
LII. of Univ. Coll., Cork.
- This Statute shall come into operation on the first
day of May, 1952.
