Statute XLIII.
Irish Universities Act, 1908.
University College, Cork.
We, the Governing Body of University College, Cork, under and by virtue of the powers in that behalf conferred on us by the above Act, do by this present instrument under the Seal of University College, Cork, make the Statute contained in the Schedule hereof for the general government of the said College.
Given under the Common Seal of University College, Cork, this Thirty-first day of October, 1945.
Present when the Common Seal of University College, Cork, was affixed hereto:--

Statute XLIII.
SCHEDULE.
- Professorship of Dairy Accounting and Dairy Economics
- (a) There shall be established in the College in the
event of its institution by the Senate of the
National University of Ireland a Professorship
of Dairy Accounting and Dairy Economics.
- (b) The said Professorship shall be a full-time office
within the meaning of Statute I., Chapter XVI.,
Section 7. The maximum stipend of such Professorship shall be £800 per annum, payable in accordance
with the Statutes of the College,.
- (c) The said Professorship shall be in substitution
for the existing Lectureship in Dairy Accountancy
and Economics instituted by Statute XX., Chapter 1.,
Section 2., which said Lectureship shall be abolished
if the present holder of the Lectureship is appointed
to the Professorship or ceases by resignation or
otherwise to hold office.
- Professorship of Dairy Engineering.
- (a) There shall be established in the College in the
event of its institution by the Senate of the National
University of Ireland a Professorship of Dairy
Engineering.
- (b) The said Professorship shall be a full-time office
within the meaning of Statute I., Chapter XVI.,
Section 7. The maximum stipend of such Professorship shall be £800 per annum, payable in accordance
with the Statutes of the College.
- (c) The said Professorship shall be in substitution
for the existing Lectureship in Dairy Engineering
instituted by Statute XX., Chapter 1., Section 2.,
which said Lectureship shall be abolished if the
present holder of the Lectureship is appointed
to the Professorship or ceases by resignation or
otherwise to hold office.
- The offices instituted by this Chapter shall be
pensionable offices, and Statute XLI., Chapter III., Table B
is hereby amended by the addition of said offices thereto.
- Professorship of Bio-Chemistry.
- (a) There shall be established in the College in the
event of its institution by the Senate of the National
University of Ireland a Professorship of Bio-Chemistry.
- (b) The said Professorship shall be a full-time office
within the meaning of Statute I., Chapter XVI.,
Section 7, and shall be pensionable. The maximum
stipend of such Professorship shall be £700 per
annum, payable in accordance with the Statutes
of the College.
- (c) The said Professorship shall be in substitution
for the existing Lectureship in Applied Chemistry
instituted by Statute XXVII., Chapter 1., which
said Lectureship shall be abolished if the present
holder of the Lectureship is appointed to the
Professorship or ceases by resignation or otherwise
to hold office.
- Professorship of Accounting and Business Administration.
- (a) There shall be established in the College in the
event of its institution by the Senate of the National
University of Ireland a Professorship of Accounting
and Business Administration.
- (b) The said Professorship shall be a part-time
and non-pensionable office. The stipend of such
Professorship shall be £150 per annum.
- (c) The said Professorship shall be in substitution
for the existing Lectureship in Accounting instituted
by Statute IV., which shall be abolished if the
present holder of the Lectureship is appointed
to the Professorship or ceases by resignation or
otherwise to hold office.
- Professorship of Ancient History.
- (a) There shall be established in the College in the
event of its institution by the Senate of the National
University of Ireland a Professorship of Ancient
History.
- (b) The said Professorship shall be a part-time
and non-pensionable office. The stipend of such
Professorship shall be £100 per annum.
- (c) The said Professorship may at the discretion of
the Governing Body be held by the present Lecturer
in Ancient Classics in conjunction with his present
office.
- Professorship of Ophthalmology.
- (a) There shall be established in the College in the
event of its institution by the Senate of the National
University of Ireland a Professorship of Ophthalmology.
- (b) The said Professorship shall be a part-time
and non-pensionable office. The stipend of such
Professorship shall be £75 per annum.
- (c) The said Professorship shall be in substitution
for the existing Lectureship in Ophthalmology
instituted by Statute XXI., Chapter IV., Section 2.,
which shall be abolished if the present bolder of
the Lectureship is appointed to the Professorship
or ceases by resignation or otherwise to hold office.
- Professorship of Dental Surgery.
- (a) There shall be established in the College in the
event of its institution by the Senate of the National
University of Ireland a Professorship of Dental
Surgery.
- (b) The said Professorship shall be a part-time
and non-pensionable office. The stipend of such
Professorship shall be £75 per annum.
- (c) The said Professorship shall be in substitution
for the existing Lectureship in Dental Surgery
instituted by Statute IV., which shall be abolished
if the present holder of the Lectureship is appointed
to the Professorship or ceases by resignation or
otherwise to hold office.
The Professorships instituted by this Statute shall be
tenable for the same term and upon the same conditions
and. the holders thereof shall be subject to the same duties
and obligations as if the said Professorships had been included in Statutes I. to XLII of University College, Cork.
Statute XXVII., Chapter II., as amended by Statute
XXXVII., Chapter III., is hereby further amended as follows :
- (a) By the addition of the subjects Ancient History
and Celtic Languages and Philology to the Faculty
of Arts, and the deletion therefrom of the subject
Celtic Languages.
- (b) By the addition of the subject Bio-Chemistry to
the Faculty of Science.
- (c) By the addition of the subject Bio-Chemistry to
the Faculty of Medicine.
- (d) By the addition of the subject Celtic Languages
and Philology to the Faculty of Celtic Studies,
and the deletion of the subject Celtic Languages
therefrom.
- (e) By the addition of the subject Dairy Accounting
and Dairy Economics to the Faculty of Dairy
Science, and the deletion of the subject Dairy
Accountancy and Economics therefrom.
- This Statute shall be construed with and as part of
Statutes I. to XLII. of University College, Cork and may
be cited as Statute XLIII. of University College, Cork,
or Stat. XLIII. of Univ. Coll., Cork.
- This Statute shall come into operation on the
thirty-first day of October, 1945.
Present when the Common Seal of University College, Cork,
was affixed.
