Statute XXXIII.

Irish Universities Act, 1908

University College, Cork

We, the Governing Body of University College, Cork, under and by virtue of the powers in that behalf conferred on us by the said Act, Do by this present instrument under the Seal of University College, Cork, make the Statute contained in the Schedule hereof for the general government of the said College.

Given under the Common Seal of University College, Cork, this First day of May, One Thousand Nine Hundred and Thirty-seven.

Statute XXXIII.

Schedule

  1. Statutes I. to XXXIII. of University College, Cork, shall be read and construed with the additions and modifications as hereunder set forth.

CHAPTER I.

  1. The Lectureship in History and Geography instituted by Statute XL. of the National University of Ireland and Statute XXIV. of the College is hereby extinguished.
  2. There shall be in the College (in the event of such a Lectureship being instituted within the College by the Senate of the National University of Ireland) in addition to the Lectureships mentioned in Statutes I. to XXXII. of University College, Cork:

    A Lectureship in History.

  3. The stipend (or salary) of the said Lectureship shall be £500 per annum and shall be subject to the terms of Chapter III. of Statute XXIV. of University College, Cork, and shall be paid in accordance with the Statutes of the College.
  4. The said Lectureship shall be a Pensionable Office in accordance with the Statutes of the College and Pension Scheme made in connection therewith.
  5. The duties of the Lecturer shall be to lecture and examine in History. The principal duty of the Lecturer shall be to lecture through Irish. He shall carry out his duties under the discretion of the Professor of History.
  6. The said Lectureship shall be deemed to be a full-time Lectureship within the meaning of the Statutes of the College and University.
  7. The said Lectureship shall be tenable for the same term and upon the same conditions, and the holder thereof shall be subject to the same duties and obligations as if the said Lectureship had been included in Statutes I. to XXXII. of the College.

CHAPTER II.

  1. The provision contained in Statute XXI., Chapter V. Section 2, with regard to the stipend (or salary) of the Lectureship in Experimental Physics is hereby revoked.
  2. The stipend (or salary) of the Lectureship in Experimental Physics shall be £550 per annum as from the 1st October, 1937, and shall be subject to the terms of Chapter III. of Statute XXIV. of University College, Cork. The Lecturer shall carry out his duties under the direction of the Professor of Experimental Physics.
  3. The provision contained in Statute XXIV., Chapter VI., Section 1, with regard to the stipends (or salaries) of the Lectureship in Chemistry and the Lectureship in Mathematics is hereby revoked.
  4. The stipends (or salaries) of the said Lectureships shall be as follows:-
    The Lectureship in Chemistry - £550 per annum.
    The Lectureship in Mathematics - £550 per annum.
    as from the 1st April, 1937.

CHAPTER III.

This Statute shall be construed with and as part of Statutes I. to XXXII. of University College, Cork, and may be cited as Statute XXXIII. of University College, Cork, or Stat. XXXIII. of Univ. Coll. Cork.

This Statute shall come into operation on the First day of May, One Thousand Nine Hundred and Thirty-Seven.
