Statute XXVII.

Irish Universities Act, 1908

University College, Cork

We, the Governing Body of University College, Cork, under and by virtue of the powers in that behalf conferred on us by the said Act, Do by this present instrument under the Seal of University College, Cork, make the Statute contained in the Schedule hereof for the general government of the said College.

Given under the Common Seal of University College, Cork, this fourteenth day of December, One Thousand Nine Hundred and Thirty-one.

Statute XXVII.

Schedule

  1. Statutes I. to XXVI. of University College, Cork, shall be read and construed with the additions and modifications as hereunder set forth.

CHAPTER I.

  1. There shall be in the College (in the event of such a Lectureship being instituted within the College by the Senate of the National University of Ireland) in addition to the Lectureships mentioned in Statutes I. to XXVI. of University College, Cork:-

    A Lectureship in Applied Chemistry.

  2. The stipend of the said Lectureship shall be £450 per annum.
  3. The said Lectureship shall be a pensionable Office in accordance with Statute XVI. and Chapter II. of Statute XXIV. and the Pension Scheme annexed.
  4. This Lectureship is in lieu of the Assistantship in Chemistry heretofore existing in the College, and the said Assistantship shall cease to exist on the appointment being made to the said Lectureship.
  5. The duties of the Lecturer shall be to lecture and examine in Chemistry, particularly Applied Chemistry, under the direction of the Professor of Chemistry and to pursue Research.
  6. The said Lectureship shall be a full-time Lectureship within the meaning of the Statutes of the College and University.
  7. The said Lectureship shall be tenable for the same term and upon the same conditions, and the holder thereof shall be subject to the same duties and obligations as if the said Lectureship had been included in Statutes I. to XXVI. of the College.

CHAPTER II.
The Faculties.

Sections 1 and 3 of Chapter XI. Statute I. of University College, Cork, are hereby revoked, and for Section I. there shall be substituted-

  1. The Faculties in the College shall be special Committees whose members shall be the Professors and/or the Lecturers of the subjects hereafter enumerated :

    I. Faculty of Arts

    II. Faculty of Celtic Studies

    III. Faculty of Science

    IV. Faculty of Law

    Jurisprudence, Roman Law and Personal Property Common Law, Real Property and Equity

    V. Faculty of Medicine

    VI. Faculty of Engineering

    VII. Faculty of Commerce

    VIII. Faculty of Dairy Science

CHAPTER III.
The Librarian

  1. Should the Acting-Librarian be appointed Librarian under Chapter II. of Statute XXVI., the Governing Body may fix his salary at any figure not exceeding £550 per annum.

CHAPTER IV.

  1. This Statute shall be construed with and as part of Statutes I. to XXVI. of University College, Cork, and may be cited as Statute XXVII. of University College, Cork, or Stat. XXVII. of Univ. Coll., Cork.
  2. This Statute shall come into operation on the Fifteenth day of December, One Thousand Nine Hundred and Thirty-one.
